The 2018 Toyota Camry has received a top-to-bottom redesign this year, bringing new levels of style, safety, and performance to this popular and reliable midsize sedan. While the new Camry has already gotten a lot of attention, there’s still some legitimate competition in the ring, including the 2017 Nissan Sentra. So before deciding on your next midsize sedan near Palm Coast, check out this comparison guide, and see how these two popular sedans stack up against one another. Then when you’re ready, make the trip to Beaver Toyota in St. Augustine to experience the sophisticated nature of the all-new Camry.
Toyota has revised its Camry engine work this year, beginning with a new 2.5L four-cylinder engine that generates 203 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque while managing to get up to an EPA-estimated 41 mpg highway and 29 mpg city. Move toward the top of the trim ladder, and you’ll also have access to a 3.5L V6 that channels 301 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque.
By contrast, the base engine on the new Nissan Sentra is a 1.8L four-cylinder engine that makes only 130 hp and 128 lb-ft of torque and tops out at an EPA-estimated 37 mpg highway and 29 mpg city. There’s also a turbocharged 1.6L four-cylinder engine available, but even with that setup the Sentra can only put forth 188 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque.
Both of these sedans come standard with important safety features like front side airbags and side curtain airbags, as well as modern conveniences like a rearview camera and stability control. Both models can also be equipped with driver assist features like blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and autonomous emergency braking. However, only the Toyota Camry comes standard with a full suite of advanced driver assist features: Toyota Safety Sense™ P (TSS-P). This state-of-the-art, intuitive safety package can be found on every single trim of the new Camry, even the base model!
